Cruising With Wild Thing
Greetings from Rhodes River, Maryland. We are anchored off of the YMCA camp. I told Jan that I would spring for a room onshore tonight.
Actually the Seven Seas Cruising Assoc is having a weekend convention here. Steve and Alice from Ocean Star said that there was a free cocktail party here, So for signing up and paying $105 to register we got a free beer. Looks like about 50 boats anchored here for the event. Lots of nice cruising folks. Maybe they will give away free Seven Seas salad dressing tonight. Maybe the Village People will show up. Who knows?
Special report for our offshore delivery crew who were complaining about the rattle in the cockpit speakers. I removed the old speakers, enlarged the holes and installed the new coaxial speakers. They sound great !! And remember the compass error on the port compass of 7 degrees that you were complaining about? We it is now up to 25 degrees thanks to the magnetic field generated by the new larger speakers. The Starboard side compass has a error of about 5 degrees now. So what do you want? A good heading, or better sounding Buffett ????
Other than that, things are going swimmingly well. We overnighted in Deltaville at a beautiful anchorage. Then sailed up to Solomons for two nights. Found the West Marine store and the Lighthouse Museum where they have Johnson outboards that are even older than my Johnson. Even made some new sailing friends at the Tiki Bar. Ate crab cakes, and crab burgers and crab soup. Enough already !!! I'm ready for a good Texas chicken fried steak.
Tomorrow, there is a SSCA swap meet. I thought it was for wives. But it turns out that you bring stuff off of your boat that you do not need, like 120 throw pillows and 52 wicker baskets, and trade your crap to some other sailor for their crap that you will never use. I can not wait. So long as we do not get any more throw pillows, we may be OK.
Monday should find us in Annapolis or Baltimore. We are trying to decide which one will be more fun in the rain, which is forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Next weekend is the Annapolis boat show. We will probably go and buy some more stuff that we do not need for the boat. Maybe we can get a POD to float behind the boat.
What ever happens, we will send you a full report.
See you on the water !!!
George and Jan
